Wild Campout

4 days, a mysterious itinerary, hosted by Chad & Gary

One of a kind, left coast inspired adventures into the unknown.

These 4-day trips are an exploration of the west’s natural beauty combined with outdoor experiences, some “Type-2” fun, genuine connection, impactful campfire discussions, and helpful well-being practices designed to strengthen the bonds of your group.

Every wild campout is different—we’ll agree on a destination, but the specific adventures, outings, and accommodations are meant to be a mystery to your group. Then, in the context of a bucket-list adventure, Chad & Gary will guide you through transformational experiences and conversations to help you disconnect from the chaos of life, feel refreshed, and deepen your understanding of yourself and each other.

TRIP LENGTH:

4 days

GROUP SIZE:

4-8

ACTIVITY LEVEL:

Med - High

Here’s the idea…

You assemble your squad for an expedition and we’ll take care of the rest.

Simply show up with a well-packed backpack, ready for whatever adventure comes our way (whether it’s mountains, lakes, forests, rivers, hot springs, waterfalls, deserts or sand dunes).

We’ll have everything planned and curated based on the weather/conditions and our pre-trip conversations about your crew's ideas, intentions and interests.

All Inclusive.

We’ll take care of all the essentials (ground transportation, food, lodging, recreational gear, etc.) so all you guys have to do is say ‘yes!’ and show up with your group. We’ll rough it a few nights camping and then stay in a warm cabin/house the other night or two. Together, we’ll figure out the best travel plan to get y’all to the launch point of the trip (most likely: Bend, OR or Salt Lake City, UT).

Here’s the catch

These Wild Campouts are tailored to your crew, but designed to be cryptic, a little unknown, until you’re in the moment, ready to jump off that cliff into the water below, or (safely) repel down that canyon wall. It might get a little squirrely and wild at times - which is kinda the point. The moments and experiences we create together will be uncommon, inspiring, transformational, and an incredible amount of fun.

You’ll come back refreshed, connected to each other, reenergized and committed to what you value most.

*FYI

All the photos on this page are from a ‘23 Wild Campout that Chad & Gary hosted for a group of 8 (RUK Forum 15).

We started in Seattle, took a ferry to the Olympic Peninsula, and explored the mountains, rivers, lakes, hot springs and coast while camping in some incredible locations. The intention was to deepen this group’s relationships with each other and get some coaching along the way.

Your group trip will look different than this one, but this gives you a good example of what a Wild Campout with Chad & Gary might look like.

What you can expect on a Wild Campout:

Accommodations

We’ll have 4x4 trucks, tents, and an overland style trailer for both transport and camp. We’ll find a campsite out in the wild, eat great food, and have the basic creature comforts covered. After a few nights of roughing it, we’ll end the trip at a comfy Airbnb so that you’re refreshed and ready for your travels back home.

Unique Experiences

Each campout will have a variety of camp activities. Some are more active while others are more laid back. It all depends on the interests of your crew. We can get the blood pumping with your preferred action sport, or we can try a sampling of activities for a well rounded experience. We can do activities any way you like: intro to mid level expertise, or we can get crazy technical (requiring some previous skill/training, of course). It’s up to you and we can accommodate most any idea you have in mind.

Authentic Connection

To make sure the trip is as impactful as possible, we’ll do some check-ins before and during the campout. We’ll explore a few well-being practices that we’ve found remarkably helpful. It’s all about building bonds, staying present, being helpful and having fun together.

A quiet time of reflection on top of the mountain.

Come back clear, connected and committed to what you value most.

Build the bonds of brotherhood with those who are passionate about livin’ and committed to exploring what they are capable of at work and at home.

Meet your hosts:

We are both passionate about men’s health and wellness, and take seriously how we show up in the real world - at work and at home. We love the outdoors and take every opportunity to get outside. We have experienced the highs and lows of life as entrepreneurs and family men. We’ve failed and we’ve succeeded at many things in life but we’re committed to choosing growth - the harder path.

FAQs

  • We’ll meet up at the designated launch point of your choosing (likley Bend, OR or Salt Lake City, UT), everyone dives into the trucks and we get after it! We’ll be on the move and exploring as we go. We’ll have several beautiful vistas for us to stop at and enjoy the view, tasty food along the way, and we’ll have many outdoor activities and challenges scheduled and waiting for us.

Chad and I are experts at creating exciting (often unexpected) moments that build upon each other to create the kind of experience that you look back on and say, “Wow, did that just happen?!”.

We’ll have a general direction and itinerary, but it’s loose enough for us to flow through the day in unexpected ways that will leave you uniquely inspired and ready for more.

We’ll talk about the things that matter to your life, get some coaching, and we’ll put into practice the concepts we’ll be exploring that will excite your soul, reenergize your body and focus your mind.

  • Designate someone from your group to be the point person, reach out, and let’s start planning. The trick will be to find dates that work for all the men in your crew. So first find availability amongst your group, and then reach out.

Based on your groups interests and the agreed upon launch point, we’ll get a basic itinerary going that hits your groups main preferences - whether that’s a trip focused on endless mtn bike trails, hikes or summits, surfing or paddling, or a variety of activities for a well rounded experience (which is our favorite and most requested outing - specifically “MultiSport Tours”, where we try a few different things, that when combined can create a well rounded and unique experience).

  • Outside of the exhilarating outdoor adventures, challenges and activities, the other tools, practices, and resources we’ll use are non-religious, non-guru, no-nonsense, and scientifically-proven methods and bio-hacks for improving mental health and wellness while we’re together.

Breathing exercises (think Wym Hof) are our favorite and most approachable tool. You need no prior experience or knowledge, we simply use and follow our breath.

The goal with any practice is to help you improve your overall sense of wellbeing, using human connection, the power of moments (and story making), a psychologically safe space, honest encouragement, and practical tools and resources shaped by your interests.

There’s no pressure to perform and we are very intentional about not making it too weird or uncomfortable for your group. It's all about encouragement and support.

We will gather your thoughts and interests for a few daily well-being practices that work for your crew. These can range from intentionally moving the body (morning hikes/walks, yoga, stretching) to helping still the mind (meditation, prayer, breathwork, etc). It’s about helping you find some calm and clarity in the midst of the fun and adventure that we all share together.

  • For the outdoor portion of the trip we will be overlanding - meaning everything we need to thrive in the outdoors comes along with us in the rigs.

We’ll be sleeping out in the wild, but everyone will have a comfy bed to sleep in. You can sleep in a rooftop tent, inside the travel trailer, or you can sleep in a hammock or pitch a tent. We provide it all for you and you make whatever choice feels right to you.

After a few nights of roughing it, we’ll then transition to a cabin/Airbnb to unwind and relax before flying back home to work and the fam.

For food and drinks, we’ll provide all the basics (local craft beer and coffee, camp meals, fresh fruit and veggies, filtered water, etc), but bring specific snacks/drinks if you want anything in particular. If you have dietary restrictions, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

The unexamined life is not worth living- Socrates

The challenge that Socrates was inviting us into is the opportunity to look at each aspect of our lives with a magnifying glass by challenging ourselves, physically, relationally, and mentally.

In order to do that well, you must have the outside perspective of others that both believe in you and care for you. A Wild Campout gives you the opportunity to examine your life in all three of these crucial areas.
